Ah yes, just as quickly as 2019 arrived, it is ready to make its grand exit. In only a matter of months (less than two, actually), the year will be over and we will be welcoming in the new year, which just so happens to be the turn of a new decade.
The fact that this new year is the turn of a new decade is indeed a very special occasion. In the decade that just passed, we have seen many amazing advancements and happenings in society. For example, the whole evolution of the cell phone as we know it occurred over the last decade. Before 2010, a large majority of cell phones came in the form of flip phones (back in 2009-2010, the popular phones were Razrs and Sidekicks). There have also been too many advancements to mention in other industries as well, such as the automobile, manufacturing, fashion, and eCommerce industries.
Following suit, we can only expect to see some amazing things to come in the decade to come. However, you’d be surprised to know that it is possible for us to actually see a number of accomplishments happen in the year 2020 alone. If you’re needing some inspiration to get amped up for the new year, let’s take a look at five reasons why 2020 will be an awesome year for you and me. This is all speculative, of course, but isn’t it fun to wonder?
#1: Beijing And London May Be Connected Via A High-Speed Rail
China’s plan for some time now has been to connect the East and West via a high-speed railroad line. And by Easy and West, they don’t mean within China only. No, China is aiming to connect the Eastern hemisphere with the Western hemisphere.
This ridiculously ambitious task would take a lot of money and supervision to make. However, instead of asking each country to pay for the rail, China is proposing to fund the entire project in exchange for receiving access to natural resources like timber and oil. Although this is an awesome project in the making, the likelihood of it being completed by next year is probably quite low.
#2: A Majority Of New Screens Will Be Made Of Super-Thin OLEDs
Technology is developing extremely fast. With that being said, there is actually a high probability that we will be seeing OLEDs replace most of the traditional LCD screens used in today’s current marketplace. OLED screens are paper-thin, by the way, and can make surfaces like windows, walls, and mirrors become screens.
#3: Governments And People Will Become More Active In Anti-Global Warming Efforts
Only a few years ago, global warming was indeed a pressing matter, but it was hard for people to see it as a real threat, especially with “more important” matters at hand such as the governmental conflicts and our daily lives. Nowadays, however, people and the government are becoming much more aware of the negative implications of global warming and just how serious it is. In 2020, we can expect to see many governmental bodies begin to implement acts and laws that further protect the environment and promote sustainability.
